Armed Forces Week - Flag Raising - 24/06/2024

A Poem - Peace for our Brave Men & Women
The flag bearer proudly raises the flag and it beckons out attention
We should stand proud before it, reflect and consider its protection
Brave men and women patrol our extended realm
Keeping us safe from wars that threaten to overwhelm
We owe it to them that we sleep safely at night
They have left their families and loved ones to take up our fight
Who knows of the effects of all that they have seen
Let us pray for peace and they can forget all that has been
Our Brave men and women, you have been away for too long
Oh May God protect and keep you – and make you strong
Come, come and celebrate with me, our brave men and women
Please God let them come home soon in victory, our enemy forgiven
So, let us pray for the day when they can all come home
Be amongst us in peace, and worship together our King of Kings upon his throne.
– By Mayoress Cllr Ellen Moore
High Sheriff of Shropshire - 23/02/24

Christmas Lights and Market 2022

Mayor’s Quote :-
“A lot of hard work by Council Officers, Councillors and Volunteers went into getting this event across the line in a short space of time, but it was well worth it.
We had 36 Market Stalls selling various items and having spoken to all of them, they had a successful day and want to come back next year. The Street Entertainers mingling with the crowds was a great success: Spiderman was my favorite. We had a slightly reduced Christmas light display for 2022 but 2023 Shifnal Christmas Lights will be back with a ‘shine’. “
